Were you ever a "before?"

In the ENELL fan community, we have such an awesome mix of distance runners, first-time-woggers (walk/joggers), CrossFit athletes, biathletes, volleyball players.... you get the point. Basically, a bunch of really great women (and some men who support them).

I'm aware as I write on this blog that not everyone is going through some sort of fitness awakening or weight loss journey as I am. In thinking about the accomplished people who work out in their ENELL bra's, I wonder: were you ever a "before?" Someone who didn't work out regularly, who wasn't always a runner, who had to adapt habits in order to get where you are today?

I saw this today and gave quite a chuckle. I automatically thought, "haha, that's me!" and then I took pause. That's not me anymore - that was me BEFORE.

Today, I might not be the fastest or be able to run the longest, but if I had to run for my life, you better believe I would be able to do it much better than I could before exercise found its way back into my life again.

Reflection can be a strong form of motivation when you seem to have lost your way. Can you remember your "before?" Many of us automatically gravitate towards the physical appearance of the "before." But what about the feelings? The faster heartbeats and breathless results of physical exertion that now don't cause pause. It's easy to forget how laborious some things used to be.

Please share your "before" below!

  1. That was definitely me before. I swore I just wasn't built to be a runner. With weak ankles, flat feet, and a large chest, no way would I ever run!

Now I'm training for a half marathon. Only 3 weeks till my race! I swear by my Enell bra and my minimalist shoes. I wouldn't have come this far without either one.
