I stared at my computer screen watching some of the race online. Despite temperatures, hills, and tough competition, thousands upon thousands of people were still pushing forward when it could have been so easy to say "I quit."
I will never do a marathon like Boston as I've learned to embrace that running (especially fast running) isn't in the cards for me physically. If you're like me in that regard, we should be off looking for new things to try. Perhaps we can be the masters of a Zumba-thon! Or the people who walk around the mall the most times. The point is - not everyone has to be the best at something in order to achieve greatness. Each our our journeys, stories, and limits are different, and that is what makes the world so interesting.
Still though, it is always good to cheer others on:

Awesome post, Emily! I've come to that same realization in my own life. I've had "Complete a Marathon" on my bucket list for a long time, but I've come to realize it's just not in the cards for me at this point in my life. In fact, I'm not even sure if a half marathon will ever be in the cards for me, and that's OK. I might not be a marathoner, but I can give my all to whatever workout I AM doing, even if it's just walking around my neighborhood. I can be my best at that. :)
ReplyDeleteBTW, triple puffy heart love that photo!!
I am so on board for a Zumbathon! I do want to run a marathon someday, but I am not built for the speed that Boston requires and I'm okay with that. We just do the best we can with what we have. :)
